Caroline's Spring Program

Caroline's Spring Program was today at school and was adorable as they always are. Caroline is not a big fan of being the center of attention, i.e. cried at Fall program and left her class to sit with her teacher (although she did rejoin her class on stage for the last song), hid underneath the table at her birthday party and cried when everyone sang to her, and the lovely scene at church when she got surprise baptized. So this morning when I watched her dress rehearsal and she cried and begged me to come get her off the risers, I didn't have much hope for a successful performance during the program. Christopher called me to see if I needed a disc for the video camera and I told him I didn't think there was any reason to get one b/c I assumed the stage fright would get her and she'd be sitting with her teachers during the whole thing. Being a sweet daddy though, he stopped and picked one up and was armed with both video camera and regular camera for the program. Surprisingly, she trotted down the aisle with her class, stood on the risers during the whole thing, sang, did her motions, and even bowed after each song (which I later figured out she learned in ballet). I was so proud of her and she was SOOOO proud of herself. Here are some pictures of the rehearsal (disaster) and program!!

Walking in with her teacher at rehearsal and holding on for dear life!
Still crying...
She would not look at me except to say "Mommy, come get me!" I felt like such a child abuser making her stand up there - they are only 2! She finally stood next to one of her friends and put her head on the little girl's shoulder to cry.
Here she is during the actual program - happy as can be! Thank you Lord!!
I still don't know who she is waving at - Christopher and I were on the opposite side of the room!
When I asked her, she said "I wave at everybody".

Fun with the Crumptons

As they do many afternoons, the Crumpton's came down to visit (they live 3 houses up from us) the other day and Harris drove his "4-wheeler" down. A little background on the 4-wheeler: Caroline had an "incident" with the 4-wheeler last summer (she was run over by it - thankfully not injured other than some mild tire marks), and is very understandably petrified of it. However, she has started to get very brave when the 4-wheeler is not turned on and unoccupied. All of a sudden we looked up the other afternoon and all 4 kids were piled into it, including Caroline, and were riding around the back yard. Rutland as you can tell has ZERO fear of it and tries to drive it any time he spies it vacant. We're hoping we can buy it from the Crumpton's at a great "used" price when Harris gets an upgrade!!
